Work completed on new grinder pump for kennels
Not a pretty project but a very necessary one!!
For years the Shelter has had issues with waste disposal from their outdoor dog building. It is a complex system as it has to not only deal with dog waste but the occasional ball or toy!
The Friends group have consulted with the City Waste Water Department and the Architects who drew up the initial plans and we have come up with a plan to fix the problem. With the help of the city, we rerouted the piping to make the run shorter and more direct, and installed a new grinder pump – which grinds the waste into a liquid state then pumps it out under low pressure into the City waste water disposal system.

The City donated the piping and connected it up to their main waste water line – so thanks to them. Jonathan and his team were exceptionally helpful and a joy to work with!
FECCAS dedicates new kennel expansion
On July 23, 2022, FECCAS held a ribbon cutting to dedicate the new kennel expansion to the shelter. The organization worked to raise money from area donors to enclose several kennels to provide full heating and cooling to the animals.

Also recognized during the ceremony was the Delawder Estate which provided funds for the shelter van and an expansion to the cat holding area. This area now provides cat patios or "catios" where the cats can safely play in groups on cat-safe trees and other amenities.

The final presentation of the day was a proclamation from Governor Bill Lee recognizing Wanda Marlow and Brenda Persinger for their extraordinary efforts in managing feral cat colonies throughout Carter County.

To further help reduce the pet animal population in the Carter County area, FECCAS announced a pledge to raise funds to build a Spay/Neuter facility on land adjacent to the shelter.
